Happiness is

waking up early on a leisurely Saturday morning and spending the first half-hour of the day cuddled up with Figgy as he vigorously groomed himself. I could feel his whiskers tickle my nose and his paws curl around my hand. His wet nose would touch my wrist and he was purring in that intense, happy way that makes me feel glad to be alive. My cats purring is one of my most favorite sounds. I've really enjoyed my morning, despite being sick. I feel a bit better (thanks to the 500 mg Cefuroxime tablets), and really enjoy having two of my cats together. My third cat, Poes, is such a love, and I haven't been able to see her yet, but I know she's in very good and loving hands.

In addition to my morning cuddle time, I've been awaking to beautiful frosted ice on the window panes. We're finally expecting weather in the 40-50's come Monday, but the cold has its beauty, as well.

It's hard to believe I've been doing the diabetes 365 project for 94 days now, but it's true. I'm planning a meet-up with the talented Beth, who came up with the idea for the project, some time around the end of our part in the project, which would be in the fall.
Day 94: January 5th, 2008
This week's focus is on "diabetes achievements." For me, just getting out of the house and being on the mend with bloodsugars out of the 200's is my diabetic achievement this Saturday morning. Sometimes, it's the little stuff I appreciate, like waking up with a bloodsugar under 200 for the first time since getting sick. There are times I've been strong and healthy enough to run half-marathons, achieve stellar A1Cs or just keep my bloodsugar in normal range all day--stretches where I've exercised hard or eaten healthy food consistently without fail, but for today, I am simply celebrating a morning at my favorite coffee shop with my siblings and a bloodsugar under 200.

It feels good to be part of the world again.

Hey, if you head to Washington State, let me know. I would love to meet some of the oc, and I'm not too far from Bellingham, on beautiful Whidbey Island.

I love the frosted window pane. I am jealous! I want snow here! But I live in the balmy southeast where we only get snow (and not much at all) a couple of time a year. :(
