It made me sad to see the children's play area in the Diabetes Clinic waiting area. It may be that it is for kids whose parents have appointments, but I couldn't help thinking of all the children afflicted with diabetes who fill up so many waiting rooms for their own appointments. I remember being a little kid and dreading my doctor appointments and all the fear along with pokes and prods. I used to often fill my logbooks in right before the appointment and sometimes fudge numbers so I wouldn't get in trouble. 180 was my favorite number to fudge--not too good, not too bad.
I valet parked my car at the clinic only to find out I had a flat tire. The kind folks at the hospital tried to change it for me, but it has been so cold out lately that my tire was, quite literally, frozen on. It refused to budge. I think the failure to change my tire threatened the very core of their manhood because they made me wait 45 minutes before finally giving in, and then gave me a long litany of excuses and experiences--pure bravado. Luckily, my mom's boyfriend lives nearby and was available to help me pump my tire up before leaving the parking structure. I'm ready for a thaw. The cold is so inhibiting, making it hard to motivate myself to go out once I'm tucked in safely at home. I haven't been to the gym yet, but have plans to go tomorrow. The key for me is to do it once I'm out and about, and not venture home first. Once I'm home, I'm home, no matter how close the gym is. I recognize the need to set myself up for success, and going to the gym before going home will be imperative.
Lastly, thank you for continuing to read my blog and offering your support. Despite my lack of comments on blogs lately, I am here and doing well. I don't have internet access in my apartment yet, so my online presence has been spotty as of late. I'll be back in the swing of things soon, though. I've got my secret sussy package all set and ready to send out tomorrow. Hooray!

Amylia,
Sorry to hear about your flat tire. That's irritating enough in warm weather, but it has got to be extra irritating in the extreme cold. Ahhhh!
I'm with you on the staying home once I get home. I run all of my errands on my way home from work. If I wait to go back out after I'm home, I never go. I'm a homebody.
I sent my secret sussy package this morning. I'm excited!
A flat tire in the brrrr cold - yuck!
Just wrapped up my sussy package and will send it off tomorrow - Taped up the box and then found one item I'd forgotten to put in the box - duh. So, untaped and then retaped.
Thanks to you and Beth for adding some fun to the dreary days of winter.
I think it's good that you're working with the dietician. Use whatever tools you can manage to use and see where it takes you. It might make a big difference somehow.
Having a flat tire in the middle of winter sucks the big one. Anything having to do with an inconvenience in the winter sucks big time.
Lastly, I'm the same as you when it comes to working out. If I'm up and moving, I'm OK about working out, but once I stop and relax, that's it for me.
You know it's a rule that a flat tire can never happen at a good time. Like when you are 2 hours ahead of schedual, or when you have no where to be. :)
Sorry to hear about it. I hope it gets better (and warmer!).
