Life in Taipei

I have been living in Taipei since the end of 2006, and this is my first post. I haven't been journaling. I haven't been e-mailing much. I haven't written a single letter home, although I did make all of my students write letters as a class assignment. I've been in a slump in terms of communicating and documenting my stay here. Normally, I'm all over it, with photos and journal entries and e-mails and postcards home, but this time my stay in Taiwan seems more permanent, and it's more work than merely traveling around, so I feel a certain obligation to work and get things under control, and it seems only now that my life is falling back into a sort of balance.

I've been working at NTUST since January, but there have been so many changes and my teaching schedule has me teaching nights and sleeping in, and my schedule is backwards. I'm adjusting, but it's been a process. I want to establish a semblance of order now. I am happy to be in Taiwan, and I want it to show, finally.

Carpe Diem.

It's 11:46pm, and I have to teach tomorrow from 12-9, so I best be on my way to bed. I'll write more soon....
